Description:  Vintage. Here is an official photo of the replica of the "John Stevens ~ First Steam Locomotive ~ 1825." This replica was built in the Pennsylvania Railroad's Altoona Works during 1925 and is presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. The exact date and location of this photo are not recorded.

Description:  Vintage. Here is the first of two official photos of the "John Bull" replica. The original locomotive was built in England during 1831, transported to North America on a wind-powered ship, and thereafter utilized by the Camden & Amboy Railroad. This replica was built in the Pennsylvania Railroad's Altoona Works during September of 1927 and is presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg.

Here is an image of a vintage photo of engine #544, an 0-6-0 switcher built by the American Locomotive Company as New York Central & Hudson River Railroad engine number "544" during March of 1911, renumbered as New York Central Railroad "6644" in August of 1936, and retired in April of 1952 after 41 years of faithful service. Description:  Vintage. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken near Hyndman, Pennsylvania, in March of 1954. The photographer is not identified. Shown here is Baltimore & Ohio Railroad engine #6120, a 2-10-2 "Santa Fe" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during November of 1923 and retired in 1957 after 34 years of faithful service. Just imagine the thunderous, reverberating echoes!

Description:  Vintage. Here is an original photo that I took at the Strasburg Railroad site in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, on 11 August 1963. Shown here is a replica of the "John Stevens ~ First Steam Locomotive ~ 1825." This replica was fabricated at the Altoona Works during 1925. Despite the pistons and cog wheels, this locomotive is basically jusr a wagon with a boiler and a water barrel. Not much attention was paid to crew comfort either! This replica is now on display in the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.

Description:  Vintage. Here is an original photo that I took at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, in December of 1971. Shown here is the Camden & Amboy's "John Bull." This is the original 2-4-0 wood-burning steam locomotive that was built in England around 1830, disassembled and sent across the Atlantic Ocean on a wood-hulled ship with sails, and then reassembled for revenue service in New Jersey.
