This appears to be an EMD builder photo taken shortly after leaving the assembly line. Built by EMD in April of 1949, this was a 600 hp switcher with a V6 configuration in its 567 engine. It served the Boston & Maine until being sold sometime between 1984-1989 to the Springfield Terminal in Portland, ME. Thanks to Mike Woodruff for identifying the location as Brooklyn, OH instead of La Grange, IL. |

| Description: |
A fairly clean Boston & Maine GP9 #1733 sits in an unidentified yard. Built by EMD in June of 1957, it was still on the roster in 1990. No date, location or photographer was listed. Since the loco is nearly spotless, it has to be early in its life, hence the 1960 approximate date. Does anyone recognize the interesting structure or location? |
