I knew it was enroute thanks to Ian Murray and was in Dallas at 15:15 4/7. So I went to Teague looking for it bright and early, but nothing.
Came home, caught a nap, and sure enough, just as I'm getting my hands dirty on a car helping my father in law, it rolls through Flynn.
So, I chased it south, and along the way, about 30 police cars flying north. Got to Iola, caught it again, and as I'm about to pull out, about 45 police cars tear-assing it south.
I was going for my usual overhead at Singleton but got blocked at between Iola and Singleton due to FM 39 being blocked by heavy police action - a DPS officer had been shot, and this incident appears to be coupled with a mass workplace shooting in Bryan.
All told, no less than 75-80 police cars marked and unmarked from every agency in a 50 mile radius, Leon County Grimes County, Madison County Sheriffs Departments, Town PD's, TX Department of Public Safety (State Troopers) just off the top of my head.
I hightailed it for home - getting shot is *not* in the job description for railfanning. As I passed the Iola ISD building, about 20 very heavily armed LEO's at "port arms" forming a perimeter in front of the building.
On the way home, pulled over to the shoulder about 10 times to let PD pass me in both directions in a scramble to zero in on the suspect.
