Album Info:This is the second group of Milwaukee Road 4-6-0 ten wheel locos that were rebuilds of earlier Baldwin B4 class Vauclain compound 4-6-0's. To add to the confusion, each loco was renumbered at least four separate times. I have included the numbering to help others sort this mess out.

Title:  MILW 4-6-0 #1071 - Milwaukee Road
Description:  Built by Baldwin in August of 1903 as CM&StP Vauclain compound 4-6-0 #387, the loco led a very active life and held many different numbers during its nearly 49 years of service - renumbered in 2/1908 to #1737, renumbered in 10/1912 to #4337, renumbered in 11/1918 to #2887, renumbered in 10/1920 to #2888, renumbered in 6/1938 to #1071. The loco was scrapped in December of 1950. No photographer was listed for the photo.

Title:  MILW 4-6-0 #1077 Milwaukee Road
Description:  Caught with a light coating of snow is CM&StP 4-6-0 #1077. The loco originally started out as MILW Vauclain compound 4-6-0 #354 built by Baldwin in September of 1900. During its nearly 40 years of service, it had many numbers - renumbered in 3/1907 to #1704, renumbered in 10/1912 to #4304, renumbered and simplified in 3/1921 to #2854, renumbered in 6/1938 to #1077. The loco was scrapped in May of 1940. No photographer or date was listed.

Description:  This good looking 4-6-0 was originally built as CM&StP Vauclain compound 4-6-0 #353 by Baldwin in September of 1900. During its long 53 years of service, it held many numbers - renumbered in 3/1907 to #1703, renumbered in 9/1912 to #4303, renumbered and simplified in 3/1921 to #2853, renumbered in 9/1938 to #1076. The loco was scrapped in February of 1953. No photographer was listed.

During that time, it had several numbers - renumbered in 9/1907 to #1771, renumbered in 9/1912 to #4371, renumbered and simplified in 9/1917 to #2921, renumbered in 11/1920 to #2881, renumbered in 6/1938 to #1064. The loco was scrapped in August of 1951. No photographer was listed.

Description:  Looks like a photo moment with the engineer at the window of MILW 4-6-0 #1083. Originally built as CM&StP Vauclain compound 4-6-0 #362 in October of 1900, it led a full service life for nearly 54 years. Along the way it carried many different road numbers - renumbered in 3/1907 to #1712, renumbered in 9/1912 to #4312, renumbered and simplified in 2/1921 to #2862, renumbered in 6/1938 to #1083. The loco was scrapped in October of 1954. No photographer was listed.

Description:  Built by Baldwin in September of 1900 as CM&StP Vauclain compound 4-6-0 #357, it sserved for nearly 50 years before being reitred and scrapped. Along the way, it carried many numbers - renumbered in 3/1907 to #1707, renumbered in 9/1912 to #4307, renumbered and simplified in 2/1921 to #2857, renumbered in 6/1938 to #1079. According to the Baldwin records compiled by Albert Weber III, the loco was supposedly scrapped in March of 1950 but this photo has a date listed as 1952. One of them is incorrect. No photographer was listed.

Description:  Built by Baldwin in August of 1903 as CM&StP Vauclain compound 4-6-0 #428, it was renumbered many times during its long career - renumbered in 3/1907 to #1778, renumbered in 9/1912 to #4378, renumbered and simplified in 5/1918 to #2938, renumbered in 7/1918 to #2886, renumbered in 6/1938 to #1069. The loco was retired in March of 1953 and this was probably the very last photo taken of it before the scrapper's torch did its duty. No photographer was listed.

This may be the last working photo of it ever taken before it disappeared into a pile of iron. Originally by as CM&StP Vauclain compound 4-6-0 #432 by Baldwin in Spetember of 1903, it had many road numbers during its nearly 51 years of service - renumbered in 5/1907 to #1782, renumbered in 9/1912 to #4382, renumbered and simplified in 12/1919 to #2932, renumbered in 11/1920 to #2890, renumbered in 6/1938 to #1073. The loco was scrapped in July of 1954.
