Description:  B&O began testing iron boxcars like 17001 in the 1840's. During the Civil War, these proved to be very effective in hauling freight in secure, fireproof & bullet proof safety.

Description:  According to one source, "Built in 1907 by the Buffalo and Susquehanna Railroad (aquired by the B&O in 1932) this wooden "bobber" caboose is the only surviving B&O caboose of its type."

Description:  One of the strangest cars I have ever seen is this B&O Tunnel Clearance Car which measured close clearances, an important consideration as locomotives and cars got larger. Looks like something from "Edward Scissorhands" movie!

Description:  This was the only car of its type on the B&O RR but was replaced by more advanced measuring techniques were created. It was fully restored in 2005.

Title:  BO D2 - Derrick Crane - Baltimore & Ohio RR
Description:  The B&O No.D-2, derrick crane, was a hand operated crane capable of lifting 10-tons. The derrick crane was usually used at the B&O shops and track material depots. It was also used for light wrecking services. For greater stability, it could be anchored to the rails with chains and clamps. It was damaged in the 2003 roof collapse but restored by May of 2007.

Title:  BO 23001 - Iron Pot Hopper - Baltimore & Ohio RR
Description:  The No. 23001 was built around 1883 and was considered one of the largest and heaviest of the pot hoppers. The No.23001 was capable of carrying 20 tons and featured link and pin couplers and hand brakes.
