BO 2-8-8-4 #7603 - Baltimore & Ohio
Description:
Although not wanted by the B&O at first (diesels were their first choice), the War Production Board restricted them to ordering steam locomotives instead. Built by Baldwin in 1944, B&O 2-8-8-4 #7603 filled the need for power quite well. Along toward the last days of its life, it was renumbered to BO 653 in 1956 and then dropped from the roster in 1960 - presumed scrapped. No date, location or photographer was listed for this photo.
