Interesting discrepancy on this loco. According to the Alco records, this loco was sold for scrap in January of 1952. However, this photo taken by Arthur B. Johnson in July of 1952 sitll shows a working loco. Anyway, the loco was built by Alco-Brooks in September of 1923. Specs - K-64 class, 63" drivers, 200psi boiler pressure, 28x30" cylinders, engine wt of 338,200 lb, and tractive effort of 63,467 lb. With a booster added in 1931, it increased the te by 10,460 lb and with a stoker added, the weight was 347,100 lb. |
