Description:  Newly arrived, this new SD50 #6709 and sister unit behind, #6707, are ready to roll out of the Conway, PA, yard on one of their first assignments. After the CR dissolution, #6709 became CSX 8647 while #6707 became NS 5403. The color slide was taken by CR conductor Ken Taylor.

Title:  A pair of CR SD50's
Description:  Nice pair of new SD50's ordered by Conrail to offset the need for modern power after retiring many of their inherited locos. CR conductor Ken Taylor snapped this shot of the pair as they sat in the Conway yard. The date given for this view was May of 1984 but from the barren trees, it looks like closer to March or April of 1984.

Description:  Built by EMD in November of 1983 when CR was in extreme need of power to handle the hills and grades of their region, this SD50 along with 134 other SD50 units responded. They proved their strength many times over. After the CR breakup, this unit became CSX 8647. A good color slide by CR conductor Ken Taylor.
