Seaboard Coast Line M-6 caboose #01117, trailing WofA train #214, about to cross Southern Railway "P" line
Title:  Seaboard Coast Line M-6 caboose #01117, trailing WofA train #214, about to cross Southern Railway "P" line
Description:  The flagman has lined the east end of the siding and has run to catch up on the moving caboose. The brakeman dropped lit fusees on either side of the train as a warning to potential Southern Railway trains approaching on the conflicting route. In the background is the former Central of Georgia station, still actively manned three shifts per day by an operator

Western Railway of Alabama's flagman is lining and locking the east siding switch for the main line after a 3 train meet
Title:  Western Railway of Alabama's flagman is lining and locking the east siding switch for the main line after a 3 train meet
Description:  Tracks in the background were used for set-outs and pick-ups for years. Far track was extended house track, that also crossed Central of Georgia/Southern Railway at grade. These tracks remain on the east side of the diamond, but are long gone from this picture location. Siding switch is now power operated and self-restoring (non-CTC, however)

Title:  Seaboard Coast Line M6 Caboose #01117, trailing Western Railway of Alabama train #214, approaching east end of siding
Description:  With Bendix radio in hand, the flagman of WofA train #214 is about to swing down and line and lock the east switch to the siding. The slowly moving train, going up a stiff grade, will not stop for him requiring his running to catch up on the caboose after lining the switch and applying the switch lock
