Information received on this unit: "“It was donated to us in 2004 by Frank Nesbitt at Independent Locomotive (it physically did come from the elevator). The other item in the file is an email in which Ken Ardinger, using the block number, identifies the unit as being Wabash 103 built 6/39 on order E247-3. Later it was B&HS 1 then ICG 620. We loaned the unit to Hallet Dock in 2008 and the engine seized up. It was scraped out here in the spring of 2009 and reusable parts were sold to Greg Vreeland (WGN).”

Ron Stafford General Although this is indeed a Peavey locomotive, it’s NOT the 1279. The 1279 was acquired from C&NW and was a later version of the SW1…it had a straight hood to cab transition as opposed to the two-stage hood slope on the unit shown in this picture. 6/17/2015 4:23:42 AM
