CNJ action  Contributor's Pick!
The Central RR of New Jersey main hosted trains to Raritan, as well as several to Phillipsburg every day. One of the more important stations was Bound Brook, where at this time it was still possible to get a train to Reading Terminal in Philadelphia twice a day. By this time, the four track main was mostly a mockery of what had once been a busy railroad. Fittingly, one of CNJs GP40Ps handles a mid day Raritan train here.

Bernie Feltman General Very nice, Tom. Steam escaping from the leading end of that unit - which happens to be the rear - makes for a very interesting photo 1/14/2013 9:15:33 PM

Rich Monahan General This consist dates back to the mid 70s, it was used for the Philipsburg rush hour train but made several trips back and forth between Newark and Raritan during the day. The GP40 was on the east end of the train. 9/21/2022 3:30:56 PM
Rich Monahan General By now the GP40p had been painted i the dreadful conrail blue and silver. Thankfully in the next year or so this will get the better looking NJ Transit silver scheme. 9/21/2022 3:32:03 PM
