MSTX 129 - restored Dow Chemical Co tanker  Contributor's Pick!
This is one of the restored cars at the Owosso Railroading Institute. According to their equipment roster page, this and a sister tanker were once used as fuel storage cars by the Detroit & Mackinac RR. Eventually they were donated to the museum who has done an excellent job restoring it to a period look.

Fred Stuckmann General Cool, I hated stem winder handbrakes, but PPG had many tanks like this one, and these brakes were the kind they had. When you released the brake, which you did by giving it a bit more tension, then you could release the catch. Then you let go of the wheel, it would spin violently. Best not have anything near it, most especially your hands. 1/27/2014 9:02:21 AM
