PRR 8619, AS18M, 1965
Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains between SLOPE and WORKS Towers in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 06 June 1965. Shown here is PRR engine #8619, an AS-18M built by the American Locomotive Company in August of 1956 and rated at 1,800 horsepower. It is pulling a mixed-cargo train made-up in Altoona to the Hollidaysburg Yards and beyond. Note that the westbound mixed-cargo freight train pulled by PRR engine #9525 is still waiting!
