PRR 2227, EF-22, 1965
Bellwood. Here is an original photo that I took of two Pennsylvania Railroad eastbound freight trains at Pinecroft ~ just west of Bellwood, Pennsylvania ~ on 26 June 1965. The train in the foreground is a 160-car eastbound mixed-cargo freight with caboose #477243. The train in the background is an eastbound merchandiser headed by PRR engine #2227, an EF-22 built by EMD in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. The space between the trains and the telephone poles was once occupied by the Altoona & Logan Valley Electric's double-tracked line linking Altoona and Tyrone. Photo taken at the Riggle's Gap Bridge.
