Tyrone. Here is an original photo that I took in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, on Memorial Day in 1965. Prominent here is Tyrone's World War I Memorial. Passing behind it is a 70-car mixed-cargo freight train heading up the Bald Eagle Branch. Pulling it (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #7050, #9768-B, and #7176. All were built by GM-EMD. #7050 and #7176 are EFS-17M's rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7050 was built in October of 1956 but #7176 was built exactly one year later. #9768-B is an EF-15A built in January of 1951 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. The cabin car is PRR #477810. Photo taken from the Pedestrian Overpass. |
