Peter Hultgren	General	Mobile telephone service is mentioned on page 27. I believe this was the beginning of the "cell phone" concept - in 1956, no less! Though different from today's technology (the mobile phone noted here was not a digital, personal device) it is impressive for the time. I think I once read that transponders were set up at regular intervals along the right-of-way to pick up phone call signals from the on-board equipment and then relay the calls out on the conventional telephone system network.	6/27/2018 2:01:14 PM

Bottom Photo Caption: "Regular service: 'Keystone' slips out of Newark." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4877, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electric built in Juniata during January of 1939, rated at 4,620 horsepower, and presently on display at the United Railway Historical Society in Boonton, New Jersey.
