Caltrain 908 shoves a northbound "100" train out of San Jose. Caltrain numbers their trains based on the service level. 100-series trains operate all day, stopping at all regular-service stops on the route between San Jose and San Francisco. 300 and 400 series trains operate during peak periods only, serving some stations served by local trains, while skipping the lesser-used stations. 500-series trains operate similar to the 300 and 400 trains, but during the mid-day slowdown. 700-series trains, branded by Caltrain as "Baby Bullets," serve only 5 stations between San Jose and San Francisco, and make the 45 mile journey in 65 minutes. This 100 train will not make the journey in quite that little time, as local trains take 1 hour and 40 minutes to traverse the line. |
