Caltrans 2108 shoves a northbound Capitol Corridor train out of Santa Clara. The Siemens Charger was built by Siemens Mobility of Florin, California, as part of a large order for Amtraks state-funded corridor trains; the Capitol Corridor, San Joaquins, Pacific Surfliner, Cascades, Illinois Services, and Michigan Services. The Chargers for California service are fitted with a special streamlined ferring at the end of the hood. This ferring accounts for the height difference between the Charger and the bi-level passenger cars used on the three California corridor services. Chargers used on Cascades and Midwest services, as well as Amtraks long-distance ALC-42s, do not have this feature. |
