Caught here by Arthur B. Johnson while the loco was in its heyday of service, this 2-8-0 Consolidation was built by Baldwin in December of 1906 (serial #29799). It would be looking at a service record eventually of nearly 44 years before meeting the scrapper's torch in the Springfield, MO yard in September of 1950. Specs - 55" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 21x28" cylinders, engine weight of 181,500 lb, tractive effort of 38,160 lb. Arthur B. Johnson photo |
