PRR 1223, D-16SB, 1970
Here is an image of a photo by Edward Kaspriske that was taken near Strasburg, Pennsylvania, in 1970. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1223, a D-16SB (4-4-0) "American" built in Juniata as a D-16B during 1905, later rebuilt as a D-16SB, sold to the Strasburg Rail Road in October of 1960, and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. In this context, it's powering a wintertime excursion train on the Strasburg Rail Road. Edward Kaspriske Collection.
