Louisville & Nashville J-3 class 2-8-2 1548 was on a southbound train passing the Abaunza Steamship Agency wharf at the foot of Dumaine Street in New Orleans. The train had left its cars at
GENTILLY YARD
, on the east side of the city, and was heading for
JULIA STREET YARD
, where the crew would go off duty. The locomotive had been built by Alco's Richmond Works (63788) in 1922 and was retired on 23 April 1954. (approximate date of photo)
