Proudly wearing the royal crest earned by the H1c, d & e classes, this group of 4-6-4 Hudsons were christened the "Royal Hudsons" after they carried the royal visitors around Canada in 1939. Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in November of 1937, this streamlined 4-6-4 Hudson served at the head of many passenger trains until being retired and scrapped in February of 1960. Specs - H1c class, 75" drivers, 275 psi boiler pressure, 22x30" cylinders, engine wt of 354,000 lb and tractive effort of 45,254 lb. H. L. Younger took this photo in 1943. |
