PRR 9547, EH-15, 1948
Title:  PRR 9547, EH-15, 1948
Description:  WB. Here is an image of a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in 1948. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9547, an "EF" Class B unit, plus a pair of Fairbanks-Morse ERIE-A units. #9547 is an EH-15 built by GM-EMD in November of 1948, rated at 1,500 horsepower, later rebuilt as an EF-15A, and retired in December of 1963 after just 15 years of service. They're passing SLOPE Tower with a long string of hopper cars on their way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, where the first two units will be uncoupled and returned to East Altoona for their next assignment. William E. Burket Collection.

PRR 9547, EH-15, 1951
Title:  PRR 9547, EH-15, 1951
Description:  Dziobko. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 10 September 1951. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9547 and two more "EH" Class units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9547 was built as an EH-15 in November of 1948, later regeared and reclassified as an EF-15, and retired in December of 1963. They're serving as pushers on a freight train on its way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin, where these three engines will uncouple and return to East Altoona for yet another helper/pusher run up "The Mountain." Looks to me like this photo was taken from the last car of a moving eastbound train!

PRR 9547, EH-15, 1960
Title:  PRR 9547, EH-15, 1960
Description:  Road Power. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad road locomotives in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, in August of 1960. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #9547 and #9693. Both are EH-15's built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9547 was built in 1948, but #9693 was built in 1949. This crew is just about ready to back the engines up and couple onto the train they'll pull out of the Yard. This photo was taken near the Yard Master's Office at the eastern end of South Juniata Street. Visible in the distance is the PRR's Samuel Rea Shop.

From here, this train will pass WYE Tower, climb the Allegheny Mountains using the New Portage Branch Line, and merge eventually with the mainline at Gallitzin.
