Description:  Horseshoe Curve-1961. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 17 August 1961. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #5704 and #5864-B. Both were built by EMD. #5704 is an EP-22 built in September of 1952 and rated at 2,250 horsepower, while #5864-B is an EP-20 built in February of 1948 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. In this context, they're pulling a passenger train around the Curve and down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East.

Description:  Sunday. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 02 May 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #5764, #5704, and #5894. All are EP-22's built by EMD and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #5764 and #5704 were built in 1952, but #5894 was built in 1951. They are passing ALTO Tower with an 18-car eastbound passenger train and will soon stop at the Altoona Passenger Station.
