Title:
PRR 6280, I-1S, 1937
Description:
Portraits 3. Here is a steam locomotive portrait by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 16 May 1937. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6280, an I-1S (2-10-0) "Decapod" built in Juniata as an I-1S during July of 1919, rebuilt as an I-1SA in April of 1949, and retired in March of 1954 after 35 years of faithful service. Perhaps it was prepared for the "Altoona Shops Inspection Trip," but it was not included in the final group on locomotives on display. (#25 of 33)
